With some of the more unique graphical art styles to date, Paper Cult is inching closer and closer to the anticipated indie release of Bloodroots. It was looked at closely for the first time back at PAX West 2018 and has continued to show more up until its demo that became available on June 11. The demo’s short tease shows off the hectic style and gameplay of what can only be described as a “Weird West” where anything around you can be turned into a weapon of mass destruction. Check out the most recent gameplay that’s been shown outside of the demo:
Bloodroots embraces a world of chaos and ridiculous, over-the-top, western action. As Mr. Wolf, players will seek out his attempted killer and is out for revenge after having been left for the vultures. As shown above and in the demo, almost anything around Mr. Wolf can be used to pummel, shoot, or explode to chain together “ultra-violent combos.” Weapons will range from predictable western tools to straight up comedic items, from hatchets, to guns, to fences, Mr. Wolf’s own boots, and even carrots.
The fast paced gameplay takes players through handcrafted levels that will explore the vast mountainsides and dense forest while makeshift weapons are compiled. Adding to the competitiveness of Bloodroots will be the praise that the best combo-killers will receive at the tops of the worldwide leaderboards. Already players can experience this run-and-gun violence, weekly challenges, replay-ability, and the online leaderboards on the downloadable PC demo. Once launch time arrives, players will have a full wild west environment to tear apart deadly animals, soldiers, and bandits with barrels, carts, and much more.
The studio at Paper Cult hasn’t announced a specific day for launch, but are confident that this summer Bloodroots is coming to the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
