CD PROJEKT RED Shares Future Plans, Announces Multiple Witcher Games, A Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel, And A New IP Are In Development

Today, CD PROJEKT RED shared a new group strategy update where the company talked about its plans for the future. Plans include new titles for both The Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises. Earlier this year, CD PROJEKT RED announced that they are developing new Witcher trilogy and an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. Today, they revealed two new Witcher titles, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, and a brand new IP being developed internally by the company.

The Witcher: Codename Polaris is the next installment in The Witcher series. Two more games will be released after Polaris, creating a new AAA RPG trilogy. The game is currently in pre-production.

The Witcher: Codename Canis Majoris is a full-fledged Witcher game but is separate to the new Witcher saga. The game will be developed by an external studio headed by experienced developers who have worked on past Witcher games.

The Witcher: Codename Sirus is set in The Witcher universe and is being developed by The Molasses Flood with support from CDPR. This game will differ by offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience with a campaign with quests and a story.

The next Cyberpunk game is codenamed, Orion. CD PROJEKT RAED says that this new game “will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe.”  Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a resurgence since its initial release.

Following multiple updates and the release of Cyberpunk Edgerunners saw its highest player base count on Steam since January 2021on Netflix. After the anime was released, Cyberpunk 2077 , eventually beating The Witcher III: Wild Hunt‘s highest play base count.

The new IP codenamed Hadar is entirely distinct, created from scratch within CD PROJEKT RED. Currently, Hadar is in the earliest stages of the creative process. CD PROJEKT RED explains “which means we are not developing any game yet, but working exclusively on the foundation for this new setting.”
