During the Pareto Securities Gaming Seminar, developer CD Projekt Red gave some insight on their upcoming title Cyberpunk 2077. They described it as an RPG being set in a world that is even more ambitious than Witcher 3. “Great game, more ambitious than Witcher 3, and we believe that we can aim at more ambitious business goals as well of course, still having gamer-centric focus and quality focus as a main priority.”
There wasn’t any exact news or big reveals during the presentation, but it seems as the developer was setting the bar pretty high for themselves. Within a video played during the seminar CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski said “Cyberpunk is our new Witcher 3, but even more ambitious. Our goal is to establish a new blockbuster franchise from the beginning. We work in a new universe, futuristic universe. We believe it’s very appealing to players, not only RPG players—but this is a true RPG, like Witcher, like Witcher 3, for mature audiences. It’s handcrafted, detailed, of course open-world, with open-ended gameplay.”
Kicinski also confirmed that the game will also be available on Steam. Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be shown off this June at E3 2018 after being behind closed doors for quite sometime. Many fans got excited when the official Twitter account for the game tweeted for the first time in years with a simple *beep*. In other news that came out at the seminar, CD Projekt Red also dashed any fans hopes of a Witcher 4.”We can’t create Witcher 4, because that was a trilogy from the beginning. No one said that one day we won’t decide to develop something in the Witcher universe. But now we’re focusing on Cyberpunk and Gwent.”
