Earlier this week, it was reported that CD Projekt Red is working on multiple Cyberpunk projects, the game and two others that are in development. Today, the developer has clarified its statement saying that there are three Cyberpunk 2077 teams working on the game, not three games.
The original report came from the Polish business website Bankier, where CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski and CEO Piotr Nielubowicz said: “Our next big project will be in the ‘Cyberpunk‘ universe, and we’re already working on it and treat it as a really big and innovative project for us.” Apparently, one of these projects is a multiplayer mode that is developed by a 40-person team at their studio in Wroclaw. These statements were translated via Google Translate which apparently led to the confusion.
CD Projekt Red has issued a statement regarding this matter, clarifying; “We currently have a total of five teams working on a number of projects, with three focusing on the development of Cyberpunk 2077. These include CD Projekt Red Warsaw and Krakow, who are handling the main game, as well as the Wroclaw studio, where around 40 industry specialists are engaged in technology R&D. A separate, dedicated team at the Warsaw Studio is handling the development of Gwent. The final team is Spokko, which is currently working on a yet unannounced mobile project.”
Even though there will most likely not be three games, it doesn’t mean that the game won’t be massive. It was recently reported that Cyberpunk’s 2077 file size is 30 GB larger than their previous title, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt at 80 GB. It was also announced that the band Refused will be portraying the band SAMURAI in the game. At E3 2019, Cyberpunk 2077 was turning lot of heads with the news of Keanu Reeves starring in the game, the release date, and the behind closed doors demo that will be made available to the public during PAX West. Cyberpunk 2077 releases April 16, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
