CD Projekt has been in the news quite a bit as of late with recent success of Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC, Phantom Liberty. However, joint CEO Michał Nowakowski, announced today that a long awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed, The Witcher 3.
I’m proud to confirm that several weeks ago the Polaris team wrapped up preproduction and moved on to full-scale production – the most intensive phase of development. We are very pleased with our progress on this project, and I wish to thank the team for its dedication.
Since its release in 2015, The Witcher 3 has garnered a large fan community and even led to a Netflix TV series. Even critics feel the game is undeniable, with it receiving a 92% on Metacritic.
While no details have been released about the game, game director Sebastian Kalemba recently tweeted about his excitement for the game.
I’m thrilled to announce that Project Polaris has entered the full-scale production phase. With new challenges just around the corner, it’s the talented and hard-working people who make me believe we can together make the upcoming Witcher Saga a remarkable experience. No stopping now! Stay tuned for what’s on the other side of the coin!
As mentioned earlier, CD Projekt has been in the mouths of many with the their hit, Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC. Nowakowski would go on to mention a milestone of 30 million copies sold.
In less than four years since release we’ve already sold 30 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077, and as for Phantom Liberty – in just over a year it has sold over eight million copies. These are impressive figures. I’m very happy to see a large, dedicated community coalesce around our Cyberpunk games. In the coming year the base game, along with its expansion, will be released to a new group of users: owners of Mac devices powered by Apple Silicon chips.
With Project Polaris now in full production, it seems that CD Projekt will continue to remain in the public spotlight for the years to come.
