Cave Monsters Re-Launch Kickstarter for Lord Winklebottom Investigates: The Case of the Expired Axolotl

Do you enjoy mysteries? Then check out this new point-and-click style narrative by Cave Monsters. Lord Winklebottom Investigates: The Case of the Expired Axolotl is a mystery-adventure game that has that classic Sherlock Holmes vibe. The story is set in the 1920s, but with a twist. The world is entirely populated by animals. After receiving a mysterious invitation to a gathering on the Isle of Barghest, the guests discover their host, Admiral Gilfrey, has been murdered! Solve the case alongside the handsome gentleman-detective, Lord Winklebottom (a giraffe) and his trusted companion, Dr. Reginal Frumple (a hippopotamus), as they search for clues in order to apprehend the killer. The game will include puzzle-solving, interrogations, and an intriguing narrative. It’s a race against the clock. Can you discover the secrets of the Isle of Barghest?

While many were hoping for a release near the end of this year, fans will sadly have to wait a little while longer for the game. Cave Monsters has recently relaunched a Kickstarter page in order to continue to fund the project through completion. However, thanks to the help of these fans, through donations and spreading the word about the project, the team received 50% of its total goal within the first six hours since launching the page. With less than a month left, the project has received over 90% of its necessary funds. Special gifts and perks are rewarded to those who donate to the campaign. These include wallpapers, name in the credits, copies of the game on launch day, and many more. There is also the option to support the team without additional perks.

Lord Winklebottom Investigates: The Case of the Expired Axolotl is currently still in early development. But you can get a preview of what to expect from the finished product. There is an available demo download for the game that can be accessed here. Players need not worry about spoilers, as the team assures that material in the demo will not be featured in the final product. This is just for players to get a feel for what to expect from the playstyle. Upon completion, the game is expected to include new voice acting, audio files, and animation. The game will also feature an in-game note-taking system. Those who are interested in trying out the demo are advised to keep physical notes while playing, as the feature has not yet been implemented. The demo is free-to-play and available for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. Instructions for download are listed on the site as well.
