The Kickstarter campaign for Lord Winklebottom Investigates: The Case of the Expired Axolotl finally reached its end today. Fans of the highly anticipated murder-mystery game have shown incredible support for the project and its creator, Charlotte Sutherland, founder of the 1-person studio Cave Monsters. After the end of the campaign, Sutherland took to Twitter to announce that the project, which actually reached its pledge goal in less than a week of campaigning, was 179% funded!
The completed version of the game will now include the new areas from both stretch goals, “The Voyage” and “The Nautilus”, and give players additional content. The game will also be available in 5 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian) upon launch. Warlocs, a group of experienced freelance game translators, will be assisting with these translations.
Cave Monsters then posted a second tweet to the game’s Twitter page.

Lord Winklebottom Investigates was originally expected to be released solely for the PC. However, earlier this month, Cave Monsters confirmed that the game would also be released for the Nintendo Switch. Now, it seems as though the game will see another additional release on a mystery platform. No further details have been revealed as of yet, but viewers can expect more news to be revealed soon.
So what’s next? There will be a long wait for the final release of the game. According to the schedule posted by Sutherland, Cave Monsters expects to release Lord Winklebottom Investigates to the PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux) by May of 2020. The game is also confirmed to release on the Nintendo Switch, which is estimated to launch in July of 2020.
