Captivating Puzzle Game Samorost 3 Out Now For Mac and PC

As of earlier this week on March 24th, the sci-fi adventure/puzzle game Samorost 3 came out for PC and Mac users. The third installment in the series comes out nearly 11 years after its last game, Samorost 2. Originally a point-and-click adventure, Samorost 3 continues in the line of beautiful and mysterious space exploration and is the first in its series to be presented in High Definition.

Samorost 3 follows a curious space gnome who uses the powers of a magic flute to travel across the cosmos in search of its mysterious origins.

Created by Czech based developers Amanita Design intended for the game’s release to be in 2015, however they decided to extend production to make Samorost 3 full length. The game also involves 9 different locations–five planets, four moons–all with their own unique environments, distinct from each other.

The game isn’t all wandering and stumbling, however. It’s also a very challenging puzzle game as well. The puzzles offered to players are often described as enjoyable hard, and sometimes baffling–but ultimately satisfying to solve.

Many reviewers are drawn in by Samorost’s whimsey, and intrigued by the difficult nature of its puzzles. Eurogamer praises developers on their “lavishly detailed” animation and art direction. Meanwhile, publications such as Killscreen hail it as “the best adventure game in years.” Kotaku complimented the game on its puzzle solving element, writing, “Like the best adventure games, Samorost 3 envelops players in a kind of dream logic and asks them to intuit relationships between things that don’t go together in the real world.”

The very first Samorost is available to play for free on their website, as well as a demo of the first half of Samorost 2. Samorost 3 can be downloaded now for your PC or Mac for $19.99 USD, while the Cosmic Edition is being offered at $25 USD, and the Amanita Bundle at approximately $52 USD.
