Today during D23, we got the first-ever Disney & Marvel Games Showcase. We got an expectation for what to expect from the showcase when it was announced with new reveals from LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and the first look at the new Marvel game from Skydance New Media. We got new reveals from each of these titles and more. Here is a rundown of everything that was revealed during today’s showcase.
Tron: Identity is a new visual novel adventure that takes place in a new Grid, forgotten by its creator and left alone to evolve without User intervention. Players assume the identity of Query, a detective program tasked with uncovering the mystery of unprecedented crime, what was taken, and by whom. Query will have to question suspects and investigate the surroundings to piece together the truth.
The decisions that you make will actively influence the story, with a multitude of possible outcomes, good and bad – all depending on your carefully chosen words.
Disney Illusion Island is a 2D platformer featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The game will be released next year exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
A new trailer was released for Marvel’s Midnight Suns with a new release date. The game is set to release on December 2, 2022. Also revealed were prequel shorts featuring the heroes that players can play as. The first short premieres on October 31.
Marvel Strike Force, the squad-based mobile RPG will add Red Hulk next week on September 13.
Marvel Snap is an upcoming free-to-play collectible card game set in the Marvel universe. The new trailer during the showcase revealed the game’s set to launch globally for mobile and PC on October 18, 2022.
A new gameplay trailer for Aliens: Dark Descent was revealed. Players will control a squad of space marines and take on hordes of Xenomorphs. The game will release in 2023 for PC and consoles.
New details were revealed for Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Players will become a Navi and explore new environments, interact with all-new creatures, plants, and characters, as you explore the Western Frontier of Pandora. Players will have to go up against REA in a brand new standalone story.
New characters are coming to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga such as Cassian Andor, Reva, Captain Rex, and more. a new Galactic Edition of the game features 13 character packs including 6 new packs featuring the characters that were previously mentioned. The Galatic Edition releases on November 1.
A new trailer was released for Return to Monkey Island. The new trailer highlighted the history of the franchise and revealed that the new game features an in-game scrapbook that goes into the history of the series and breaks down what happened in the previous games.
Gargoyles Remastered is the next Disney Classic game set to be remastered. The game was first released on Sega Genesis in 1995. The remaster will feature updated visuals and controls.
Villians are coming to Disney Mirrorverse, the action RPG that set in a divergent Disney universe. A Halloween season is coming to the game. The new trailer revealed villains such as Ursula, Oogie Boogie, Hades, and more.
The new trailer for Disney Speedstorm revealed that several Monsters Inc. characters will be available for players to choose from. The game will also feature a new Monsters Inc.-inspired track called ‘The Factory’.
Disney Dreamlight Valley, the Animal Crossing inspired game infused with Disney characters will be getting a Toy Story world featuring Woody, Buzz Lightyear, new quests, and more, later this year.
Avatar: Reckoning is a new mobile MMORPG where players can customize their own Avatar and explore Pandora following the aftermath of the battle of the Hallelujah mountains. The game features a single-player story where players will come across new clans, regions, and the many dangers that Pandora has to offer. Players can also play with and against other players.
Skydance New Media has finally revealed the first look at their Marvel game. The game is an original story that will take players on a WWII-era adventure with four playable heroes at different points in the story. The teaser trailer reveals two of those heroes. Captain America and Black Panther are going to team up in a fight against Hydra.
Marvel World of Heroes is a new game from Niantic. Similar to Pokemon GO, players will be able to go around but they will get to become a Marvel Super Hero in the real world. Players will be able to create their own hero, patrol the neighborhood to foil crimes, and team up with friends as well as iconic Marvel heroes. The game is set to release in 2023.
