Capcom Unveils Resident Evil Revelations 2 Opening Cinematic

In an effort to build anticipation for their upcoming sequel to Resident Evil Revelations, Capcom have put out the game’s opening cinematic for all to see.

The cinematic begins with an advertisement for Terra Save, an organization dedicated to combating the kinds of monstrosities that have become synonymous with the Resident Evil universe. The ad concludes with a truly cringe-inducing slogan: “Terra Save, because Terr doesn’t have to end with ‘Orist'”

The ad then transitions to a sort of reception at the Terra Save headquarters, with Revelations 2‘s protagonist, Claire Redfield in attendance. Clearly she’s familiar with many of the staff there, as a number of them greet her, with one colleague going “Oh hai Claire!” in a manner that would make Tommy Wiseau jealous.

We are then introduced to Moira Burton, the daughter of Resident Evil favorite Barry. After some banter between the two, the festivities are cut short when a mysterious and heavily armed group storms the building, sending the Terra Save personnel fleeing for their lives while Claire and Moira are captured.

Revelations 2 will be set in between the events of Resident Evil 5 and 6. Claire, of course, will be returning as the protagonist of a brand new RE story for the first time since 2000’s Code Veronica. Moira will be along for the ride as a co-op character, but I’m really hoping she doesn’t turn out to be as annoying as Code Veronica‘s Steve Burnside.

Releasing on February 17, Revelations 2 will be put out in episodic format for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. There will be four episodes in total, and once all four have been released, a complete version will be released.
