Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Finally Adds a Kill-Death Ratio Monitor, as a Microtransaction

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is easily one of the most popular entries of the franchise, and it also claimed the title of best selling game of 2019. Infinity Ward and Activision have much to be proud of with this successful endeavor. Still, it hasn’t been without its naysayers. One of the biggest complaints was that the Kill-Death Ratio monitor was removed from matches. Well it looks like the developer has added the much desired feature back into the game, for fee. As reported by Kotaku, you can now buy the Kill Death Ratio using either in game currency, or real life money.

Added in as part of the Season One Drop, the new cosmetic is part of the “Mother Russia Bundle” which is a 10-piece cosmetic pack that costs 2000 COD points, or $20. Titled “Time to Die” the cosmetic is a wristwatch that will display in matches the number of kills on the top, and the number of times you’ve died on the bottom. You can already check the amount of kills and points in the scoreboard during matches, but Infinity Ward at some point made the decision during the development to remove the death count. The main reasoning for this is more than likely to try and dissuade players from leaving during the middle, or sometimes the beginning, of a match. This is also known as “Rage Quitting” in the video game community.

It’s important to note that “Time to Die” doesn’t give the player any kind of distinct advantage in any match type. In every sense of the word, it is just a cosmetic that displays your Kill-Death Ratio for whatever match you’re currently playing in.
