When Call of Duty Mobile launched last month, we knew that the statistics were going to be very high. What we didn’t know was just how high those numbers would be. Fast forward little more than a month later, and the game has easily become one of the most successful mobile games of 2019. The developers were ready to share some updates with us on some new content for the title, two of which are the extremely popular Zombies mode as well as potential controller support.
The update didn’t have a lot in terms of information, more specifically, they merely announced that Zombies is in fact coming at some point. No release date or any confirmation on what new possible gameplay we could expect to see, but this will undoubtedly get the COD fan base going stir crazy for the time being. It’s no surprise that Zombies is being brought into COD Mobile as Zombies has been a benchmark of the Call of Duty series since Treyarch introduced it in the 2008 game Call of Duty: World at War. With it’s high re-playability and addicting PvE game mechanics, Zombies has been added into nearly every COD title since.
However, it looks like some footage was leaked at some point as YouTuber Spyrex uploaded what is assumed to be Zombie gamplay from COD Mobile. Neither Activision nor Tencent have commented on this and they more than likely never will. Judging from the leak, the Zombies mode for Mobile looks like it will play nearly identical to it’s predecessors. It’s important to note that footage shown here might not represent the final product when it is eventually released. You can check out the footage below:
The other major update was that the developers are working on bringing back support for controllers. When the game originally launched, it already included this feature before it was removed for the sake of balancing the game. Apparently, fans have been begging them to bring it back, and it looks like the developers heard them loud and clear. There isn’t any time or date for when to expect it’s return, but according to the company, they’re working on “finalizing the specifics of how it will be working in the game, specifically with matchmaking.”
This is obviously for those balancing reasons, as not all COD Mobile players use a controller to play, and those that do could arguably take advantage of their opponents. The rest of the update goes onto all of the new features hitting COD Mobile this week. This includes a Weekly Battle Royale Challenge, new Personal Milestones, Free-For-All Mode and Challenges, and the Call of Duty Endowment Pack which contributes to the titular charity that helps veterans in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Hopefully, we’re not too far away from Zombies, but the developer did encourage anyone who wants new updates to check out their Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages as they’re adding new screenshots and videos leading up to it’s release. Call of Duty Mobile is available now for free on iOS and Android mobile devices.
