Call of Duty: Ghosts Customization DLC Includes Snoop Dogg Voice Pack

If you play Call of Duty and secretly wished that Snoop Dogg would serve as the multiplayer announcer instead of the usual grizzled nameless military man, your wish has been granted. On April 22, Call of Duty: Ghosts will be getting a litany of customization DLC packs, and among them will be a voice pack in which the famous rapper announces the beginning of matches, your kill streak rewards, and so on.

The Snoop Dogg Voice Pack will include lines, otherwise known as “Snoopisms,” written by Infinity Ward and tweaked by Snoop Dogg himself. These include things like “Squad member active. That’s wassup!” and “Rack up points by reaching the enemy portal, ya dig?” as well as “Ballistic vest ready. Those are some fine-ass threads.”

“A lot of my homies get down, it’s like nine out of ten rappers play this game,” says Snoop Dogg in a promotional video, “I know a lot of us are big fans, cause its so real, it puts you right in there. Like I said, its the coolest game in the hood, all my homies play this game.”

This isn’t the first videogame to feature Snoop Dogg, however. A rhythm game featuring his music called Way of the Dogg was released for iOS and PlayStation 3 last year, although it has a miserable Metacritic score of 41. Snoop was also featured in strange ad for Rayman Legends.

The Snoop Dogg Voice Pack will also be accompanied by the Drill Instructor Voice Pack, this one voiced by the decidedly more fitting R. Lee Ermey of Full Metal Jacket fame. Both packs will cost $3. There are also a number of other personalization DLC packs on the way, and you can check them out at the game’s website.

The new DLC is just the latest of the Call of Duty franchise’s attempts to draw in more players by featuring notable names, even if those names might not necessarily fit with the series’s gritty military setting. Recent DLC releases for Ghosts have included playable characters such as Michael Myers from the Halloween series and the Predator from Alien vs Predator fame.

Reaction to the Snoop Dogg Voice Pack has largely been derisive. A moderator on Gamespot wondered, “I’m just curious who in the hell made this call to add Snoop. Like how in the hell did they just come up with this idea to tarnish what, if any, credibility is left in this franchise” while a user on the voice pack’s YouTube video, which has nearly 3000 dislikes, said, “You gotta be kidding. That is the stupidest thing ever. Seriously, you guys couldn’t think of anything better than this? Really?”
