Treyarch is coming back in black as Call Of Dutys new entry, Black Ops 6, promises to bring the franchise back to its prime. With brand new campaign, multiplayer, and round based zombies returning, it looks like the 4 year development cycle has really paid off for the studio.
A continuation of 2021’s Black Ops Cold War, the story promises to be a mind bending spy thriller that closely follows after the flashbacks missions of Black Ops 2 in the late 80’s. You will be primarily playing as Troy Marshall, a brand new character who is Frank Woods protege in the field. As the Gulf War looms large over the world, a shadowy organization has quietly taken over high ranking spots in the CIA forcing you and your companions to go rogue and fight the very teams that trained you. Russell Adler returns as well as his shadowy presence looms large as you struggle to find out who exactly you can trust. There will be a wide variety of missions, some large scale with one major objective, and smaller more intimate infiltration stealth missions. It looks to be the most expansive campaign to date.
Not much was talked about multiplayer, but it was surely enough to have players eagerly awaiting for more information. The new omni directional movement system is a first for the franchise that will have players moving like its Max Payne, full directional sprinting and diving. The game will officially be launching with 16 brand new multiplayer maps, including 4 strike maps, also happy to report that they will be 3 lane maps again. Another massive announcement was the return to classic prestige systems, with players being able to reach master prestige and reaching level 1000 afterwards will present a very special reward. There will be a full multiplayer reveal and deep dive on August 28th at Call of Duty Next.
Now for Zombies. Modern Warfare 3 really soured the taste of Zombies for many players, and many fans have been eagerly anticipating what Treyarch had up their sleeves. While again not much was told, it was really enough to leave fans relieved. The return of round based zombies is officially confirmed, and there will be a dedicated crew for the first time since 2018. The Dark Aether storyline is officially continuing as there will be two fully fledged out zombies experiences at launch. Those being Terminus, which we got our first look of, and Liberty Falls. Gobblegums are also officially returning as a game mechanic.
