After officially confirming its existence, and sharing a look at the box art earlier this week, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was officially revealed in Warzone. The reveal took place in a new game mode called Know Your History. A series of objectives are available to partake in that reward players with cosmetic items. As the mode progresses and the timer counts down and has players race to the stadium before a nuke descends upon the map. Then, the official Black Ops Cold War trailer plays.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War picks up after the events of the first Black Ops and has returning characters Frank Woods, Alex Mason, and Jason Hudson returning to the world of covert operations during the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Players will come face to face with historical figures such as President Ronald Regan and travel to iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters, and more.
The game will feature three game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. With Multiplayer, players will bring a Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment into the next generation where they will engage in deniable operations as an elite operative using state of the art tools of the tradecraft across a variety of experiences from small skirmishes to all-out, vehicle fueled warfare. In Zombies, uncover dark Cold War experiments that unleash a new Zombie threat to take on in frightening and intense co-operative gameplay with friends.
Call of Duty: Warzone will share content with Black Ops Cold War. This includes shared progression features with Warzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both titles. Warzone players will also have access to the Modern Warfare content they have earned such as Operators and weapon blueprints.
The leaks yesterday revealed that players can choose to pre-order three editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. All pre-orders include the Woods Operator pack that can be used immediately in Modern Warfare and Warzone and early access to the open beta that’s available first on PlayStation 4. The digital Cross-Gen bundle includes the game for both console generations depending on the platform you pre-order on. The Ultimate Edition of the game includes one season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War battle pass bundle with 20 tier skips and the Land/Sea/Air pack that comes with three operator skins, three vehicle blueprints, and three vehicle skins. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and will be available to play on next-gen systems when they launch. The multiplayer reveal for the game will take place on September 9.
