Yesterday on Twitch, a streamer leaked a brief clip of what appears to be a new mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, showing a firefight in a Miami-based level with two squads of six players both fighting over an VIP. The map is pretty small, but the footage shows the option for team revivals and an enemy health bar. Those who have seen the clip note the apparent absence of a tactical sprint ability in the footage. The video was then uploaded to YouTube and garnered a lot of attention before it was eventually taken down. This all came after Activision’s announcement that the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer would take place next week, September 9th, at 10 am Pacific time.

There isn’t a lot of detail right now, but the showcase will probably be broadcasted on Twitch and YouTube via Call of Duty’s official channels. It’s unclear whether there will be live-streamed gameplay, what aspects of the mode will be featured, and how it connects to Warzone. Considering the leaked footage, many assume that streamers and influencers have had some early access to the game, so there could be gameplay to show from those sessions. They did accompany the announcement with a teaser clip, showing players driving dune buggies, using what appears to be a chopper gunner, and total warfare in a dilapidated cavern.
Activision has confirmed small details for multiplayer like cross-gen and cross-platform support, a battle pass, and downloadable content coming after launch. There’s still a lot to be revealed in the way of gameplay, new mechanic, in-game features, and more. Follow the Call of Duty Twitter page to be notified when the multiplayer showcase goes live.
