The beloved Black Ops series is officially returning as the past couple days have seen a ramp-up in promotional material. The marketing team must be feeling really proud of themselves as the content produced to garner hype is probably the best the Call Of Duty series has ever had, with various videos being released of national monuments being defaced with the phrase “The Truth Lies” taking center stage. The Black Ops series is no stranger to meddling with real-world history and blending the lines of fiction and reality, and with the newly released live-action trailer for Call Of Duty Black Ops 6, it is clearly no different.
The trailer focuses on showing us prominent world leaders around the time of the Gulf War, assumingly when the game’s setting takes place due to a lot of previous promotional material. The game will officially be following up Black Ops Cold War so it only makes sense to follow closely to the next major US conflict. We see previous world leaders such as Bill Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, George Bush, Colin Powell, and Saddam Hussein all addressing the viewer speaking about how the truth lies in the darkness and that we the public have been brainwashed. This title’s campaign will most likely be centered around the idea of misinformation, and what more prominent time to use these themes than today.
At the end of the trailer we were presented with another major surprise, Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 will officially be available via Xbox game pass on day one of release. This alongside a full reveal panel for the game on June 9th, on the Xbox showcase. Treyarch is once again showing why they are the best studio working on Call Of Duty games.
