Yesterday, an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito revealed that the Supreme Court has voted to strike down the landmark Roe v. Wade decision. Back in 1973, Roe v. Wade established that the US Constitution guarantees the right to a safe and legal abortion. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division,” Alito wrote. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issues of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.” Today, Destiny 2 developer Bungie released a statement in support of essential healthcare rights.

“At Bungie, we believe that everyone has a right to choose their own path and that freedom is expressed across all facets of life,” the developer wrote. “The leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade represents a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights.”
Bungie said that they are “committed to safeguarding the freedom and privacy of its employees and providing support to all employees affected by this decision. Standing up for reproductive choice and liberty is not a difficult decision to make, and Bungie remains dedicated to upholding these values.”
As is with everything, some people voiced their criticism for Bungie releasing a statement on the matter. Regardless, Bungie remained steadfast.
We’ve chosen our side and it wasn’t difficult. Our company values exist beyond our games.
