Back in 2023, Bungie, developers of Halo and Destiny, shared a sneak peek at Marathon, their next FPS. Marathon is Bungie’s new sci-fi PvPvE extraction shooter. Players will “compete for survival, riches, and renown in a world of evolving, persistent zones, where any run can lead to greatness.” Now, two years later, Bungie is set to officially reveal gameplay for Marathon with the announcement of the Marathon Gameplay Reveal Showcase, scheduled for April 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. PT.
Nothing compares to a warm dead body.

The reveal for the gameplay showcase was in thanks to thousands of community members across the world who worked together to unlock the gameplay reveal date.
This was one of the most incredible things I’ve ever been a part of: we had to coordinate satellite alignment with 3000 other people LIVE to unlock the @MarathonTheGame reveal teaser. CINEMA pic.twitter.com/7wWsYYpm0p

Detailing more about the game, Bungie said “set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti IV, Marathon will see players inhabit the bodies of Runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet’s harsh environments. While exploring the lost colony that once inhabited the surface, players will search for valuable loot including new weapons and gear.”

Anyone interested can watch the Marathon Gameplay Reveal stream on the game’s official Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok channels. The stream will start at 10 am PDT (San Francisco) / 1 pm EDT (New York) / 6 pm BST (London) / 7 pm CEST (Berlin/Paris) / 9 pm GST (Dubai) on Saturday, April 12. You can also watch it Sunday, April 13 at 2 am JST (Tokyo) / 3 am AEST (Sydney) / 5 pm NZST (Auckland).
Following the announcement of the reveal date, there was speculation whether or not the game or a beta of some sort would get shadow-dropped. However, that no longer seems to be the case. It looks like player will be able to register for a closed alpha that will happen at a later date.
I also trust Tom more than me so I understand the skepticism, but yeah we’re on the same page. No playable Marathon shadow drop after the event, there will be stuff about a (relatively large) closed alpha coming later https://t.co/P1HowfHt8B
