Bungie Details Everything Happening In Season Of The Drifter

Bungie has shared details on what players can expect from Season of The Drifter, the second extension of the Annual Pass for Destiny 2. Season of The Drifter sees new modes, weapons, activities, and loot to go after for all types of Destiny 2 players, whether you have Destiny 2, Destiny 2: Forsaken, or the Annual Pass.

One of the new events happening for Annual Pass owners is the Allegiance quest, which invites players to choose between the Vanguard and the Drifter. You pick a side to see the quest from their perspective. However, you can also choose the other side if you have other characters. Invitations of the Nine is another new addition happening. These are bounties that will explore the Nine and their place in the universe of Destiny.

One of the bigger things happening this season is an evolution of the mode Gambit. Gambit Prime has players choose a specific role and build a new armor set with perks that will change the game. Players can choose from 4 different roles. The Reaper clears waves and helps slay larger enemies, Invader hunts you opponents and steals their motes, the Collector focuses on gathering all of the motes and sending blockers, and the Sentry counters invaders and protects your bank. Gambit Prime is just one round so teamwork is very important.

The Reckoning is the new PvE activity in Season of The Drifter. You can play this mode after winning in Gambit Prime. You take your rewards and risk them in a new challenge that belongs to the Nine. This mode ties into the Invitations of the Nine bounties. You confront swarms of enemies as you try to unlock greater rewards such as the armor and perks you’ll be able to use in Gambit Prime.

Other gameplay changes in the new season include Power Surge Bounties. These bounties are a way to significantly increase your power level in a shorter amount of time. Iron Banner will return as well and there will be new exotic weapons and armor.

Season of The Drifter begins on March 5, 2019, and lasts until May.
