With Rockstar Games’ latest announcement on the Red Dead Redemption port and the subsequent backlash from the community from the lack of anything new, it has many wondering what could have been. Not just for a new way to experience Red Dead Redemption, but for other new games from Rockstar. While many are eagerly anticipating the next Grand Theft Auto, others are thinking about new entries in other franchises like Bully. A recent leak by a former Rockstar Games employee reveals that they worked on a sequel to Bully before Rockstar Games moved on.
There have been numerous reports of the existence and development of Bully 2. The game has been leaked since the late 200s including casting calls suggesting that the sequel was happening back in 2018. ComicBook was able to verify that this ex-Rockstar employee did work beyond their LinkedIn page.
The former employee was a Research Video Editor/Producer whose credits include Grand Theft Auto IV, GTA IV: The Lost and the Damned, GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown, Wars, Bully 2, Agent, Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, Max Payne 3, Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption II, and Grand Theft Auto VI. There is a note that reveals that development on Bully 2 was happening in 2008, roughly 2 years after the release of the first game. They also have Bully 3 listed as well.
An insider suggests that Bully 2 could be coming after the release of GTA VI which may be coming out sooner than later. This comes following a tease from the Take-Two CEO and Chairman Strauss Zelnick who in the company’s latest earnings call said “we [Take-Two] remain confident that we are positioning our business for a significant inflection point in fiscal 2025, which we believe will include new record levels of operating performance”. Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 25 runs between April 2024 – March 2025.
Whether or not Bully is coming back is something we’ll have to wait and see.
