In a time where people around the world are protesting for justice for George Floyd and bringing an end to police brutality to the Black community. It was only right for the developers of Borderlands 3 to hold back their next coming event. Fans will have to wait for little while for the new update to come out due to this current event going on around the world. Developers of Borderlands 3, 2K and Gearbox have decided to delay their new content, Takedown at the Guardian Breach, as they take a stand to support this recent international protests against racism and racial inequality.
On the Borderlands 3 twitter page, they made the announcement on June 3rd stating their delay on the upcoming content. They stated, “This week we muted our channel out of respect for what’s going on in the world and we will be postponing the launch of Takedown at the Guardian Breach.”
With the announcement to delay the Borderlands 3 new content. The developers at 2K made a donation from their 2K Foundations Program of $1 million dollars with the intent to help fight racial injustice and inequalities that people within the Black community face in the United States and around the world.
As many other gaming developers put a pause on their new updates and upcoming events. Many of them including 2K and Gearbox feel this is for a good cause and an important movement to be part of as the whole world takes a stand against racism.
Even though a new date hasn’t been announced yet for the Borderlands 3 Takedown at the Guardian Breach. They do acknowledge that having their new content be put on hold is unfortunate but they believe a lot of their fans will be understanding and would even protest with them to stop racial injustice and inequalities
