Today, the fourth character trailer for Borderlands 3 was released, this time focusing on FL4K, the Beastmaster. Unlike Amara, Moze, and Zane, FL4K is accompanied by loyal beasts, each a part of an action skill and a skill tree. FL4K’s skill trees are Hunter, Master, and Stalker.
The Hunter skill tree consists of the Rakk Attack! Action Skill and the Spiderant Centurion as a pet. Rakk Attack has Rakk soaring through the air and divebombing on enemies. The Spiderant Centurion can be used to attack enemies with acidic goo, spinning charge attacks, and strikes from their pincer and prosthetic drill arm. While the Spiderant is out, FL4K will constantly regenerate health. Options from the Hunter Skill Tree include Ambush Predator which increases FL4K’s weapon handling and critical hit damage while there are no enemies around making this a perfect choice for snipers. The Most Dangerous Game allows FL4K to gain increased critical hit damage, gun damage and handling for an extended period. This occurs when a Badass or stronger enemy gets killed. Megavore gives FL4K the chance to score a critical hit with weapons on any part of enemies.
The Master’s Action Skill is Gamma Burst which creates a rift that instantly teleports the pet to a target with a burst of radiation damage. Gamma Burst can also be used as a quick revive when the pet, a Guard Skag is downed or dead. This comes at the cost of an increased Action Skill cooldown. FL4K’s options from the Master Skill Tree offer plenty of ways to increase the pet’s damage output and aid for the pet. Who Rescued Who? has FL4K regenerate some health when the pet deals damage and vice versa so when FL4K deals damage, the Guard Skag will be healed. Psycho Head on a Stick buffs FL4K’ pet with increased movement speed and damage for a few seconds when FL4K kills an enemy. Dominance is a new melee attack that converts an enemy to your side for a short time. That time is increased if you are using Dominance on a beast. You can also deal damage to the temporary ally. The target of Dominance will lose health until the effect ends or they die.
Fade Away and the Jabber Sidekick is the Action Skill and pet for the Stalker Skill Tree. Fade Away instantly cloaks FL4K and increases movement speed and health regeneration. Three shots are available to be fired off when cloaked which are guaranteed critical hits. The Jabber Sidekick provides bonus movement speed and comes with its own gun it can use to take out enemies. Options for the Stalker tree are Lick The Wounds which has the pet attempt to revive you when you’re downed in the Fight For Your Life state. The Fast and the Furryous increases FL4K’s gun damage and movement speed when above half health. The Power Inside increases damage for FL4K and the pet. The damage is doubled if FL4K is at full health. Borderlands 3 releases on September 13, 2019, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
