BonusXP is a video game developing company that has been known for its success with multiple Netflix IPs such as the Stranger Things series and The Dark Crystal series according to TechCrunch. The company has been around for about 11 years, starting their company back in 2012. Unfortunately, a recent tweet from the company announced that they have begun the process of ceasing operations at BonusXP.
In the tweet itself, they place a heavy emphasis on trying to take care of their staff, petitioning to try to find them jobs after their time with BonusXP is over. They also express their appreciation for the support they have received over the past eleven years.
As far as the history of the company is concerned, they started as an indie company back in 2012. After five years of working as an indie company, they started to branch out to include licensed games, the first of which being based on the Netflix IP, Stranger Things. The developers created three games for Stranger Things including Stranger Things: The Game, Stranger Things: 1984 and Stranger Things 3: The Game. In addition to these Stranger Things games, they were also licensed to create The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics based on the Netflix series.
The tweet itself gave no reasoning behind why the studio is closing down, so for now there is no answer to that. What people do know is that their entire team is being laid off, which is why the tweet calls for other studios to pick up their staff. It seems as though it is amicable based on the way BonusXP describes their team for other studios, but there is no clear idea of what caused the company to shut down, or why they felt the need to in the first place.
