What happens when you mix Bomberman with a Spaghetti Western setting? You get Bombslinger, the over the top, wild west, maze-action bomb thrower. The title, created by Mode4, has finally gotten a release date, and according to a press release, will be available to players across the world in mid April of this year.
Bombslinger brings with it the classic feel of the bomb throwing genre, complete with a four-player free-for-all mode and a single player mode to boot. The game comes designed as pixel-art, and it will also be accompanied by a soundtrack that compliments its wild west setting. The finished product will also boast enough new items, environments and enemies to fill a general goods store.
The single player of Bombslinger will be chock full of content, containing procedurally generated levels, character progression along with skill upgrades, and an arsenal of offensive and defensive items. The story will also be telling a tale of revenge that is right at home in the Wild West. It focuses on the Bombslinger, a ruthless bandit turned peaceful rancher on a quest to avenge the murder of his missus and destruction of his ranch at the hands of his brother, the Gunslinger.
Mode4, the Belgian two-man indie developer team, is excited to see the fruits of their labor finally come to fruition. “We’ve enjoyed working with players to make sure Bombslinger has enough content to create a highly replayable experience players can enjoy alone or with friends,” says Ferry Keesom, Co-Founder, Programmer and Designer, Mode4. “We look forward to sharing the fruits of our love of classic westerns and bomb-slinging games with new audiences.”
Bombslinger’s PC version is currently available for beta testing as part of Steam Early access. The title will have a full release on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC on April 11.
