From the developer Cyanide Studios, they bring you the first match in-game teaser, Orcs vs Humans in this new game Blood Bowl 2, coming to you in coming months to PC from publisher Focus Home Interactive. The footage gives you the first look into the game, which has a “brand new graphic engine,” since it was announced back in June 2013.
The game started out with Blood Bowl, which began as a successful tabletop game, doing a takeoff of American football and bringing the skillful elements of the sport with a fantastical setting, which started all the way back as a PC game in 2009. Cyanide Studios says that the upcoming sequel is more ambitious than its predecessor, by adding a new single-player campaign and a league mode that is based on multiplayer, which allows players to manage and control their teams, club and stadium.
The “First Match” teaser below shows off the first game that a team made up of humans face against an angry squad of orcs who battle on the Gridiron. You will hear the commentary by Jim Johnson and Bob Bifford who provide you with every play call of the game between the Reikland Reavers and the Orcs of Gouged Eye, and Blood Bowl is aired on the sports network Cabalvision.
“Jim and Bob will be there with you every step of the way, commentating the action and bringing the whole thing to life. We really wanted to make the campaign mode an important part of the game and bring that feel you get from big sports games and sporting TV channels.”
There may some of you out there reading this that play the popular Madden franchise from EA Sports, and that has been something of an inspirational benchmark for the Blood Bowl series, but also with the help of looking and taking some ideas and cues from interfaces by existing sports franchises.
Senior Product Manager Sylvain Séchi stated that, “We didn’t want to create a campaign mode where you’re just playing the same game after game after game. When you play StarCraft II, for example, no two games are the same. That’s what we wanted to have for our game. So every match you play in the campaign mode will be slightly different, under different match parameters and so on.”
With the multiplayer options in the Blood Bowl 2, you’ll have the options for playing friends online, locally, or even viewing. That’s correct, you’ll be able to do online spectating of a current game going on especially with no maximum spectator cap set. While in online spectator mode, you’ll only be able to watch and won’t be able to participate by cheering on your team or booing the opposite team or interacting in any way, but you will be able to see the movements and game overlays during the plays.
Cyanide Studios promises to share more info and footage in the coming months.
