Bloober Team & Konami Announce Strategic Partnership

Today, Bloober Team, developer of Layers of Fear, Observer, Blair Witch, and most recently The Medium, have announced new strategic partnership between them and publisher Konami Digital Entertainment. Konami Digital Entertainment, the core company of Konami Group is known for global franchises such as eFootball, PES, Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, Contra, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game series. The new partnership will include jointly developing selected contents and exchanging know-how.

Piotr Babieno, president of Bloober Team said, “It is a historic day for me and the culmination of several years of our work. The fact that such a renowned company as Konami has decided to strategically cooperate with the Bloober Team means that we also joined the world leaders in gaming and became an equal partner for the leading players in this market.”

“We have been providing unique entertainment content and ways to enjoy it through the use of information technology. In the digital entertainment industry, significant changes in the business environment are expected in the future. We look forward to combining Bloober Team’s and our respective characteristics and strengths to create high-quality contents,” said Hideki Hayakawa, Representative Director, President Konami Digital Entertainment.

As to what’s to come from this new partnership, all evidence points to a new Silent Hill game. Reports earlier this year revealed that Bloober Team has been working for more than year on another gaming project, another horror IP with a very famous gaming publisher. Speculation suggests that this new project is a new Silent Hill game. The Silent Hill composer also teased a new game in the series during an interview.

VGC has reported that a prominent developer in Japan is also working on another Silent Hill project so it would seem that multiple Silent Hill games could be coming sometime in the future.
