In a blog post the other day dubbed “The Road Ahead for Battlefield 1” ,Aleksander Grondal, executive producer of Battlefield 1, wrote a blog post on the games website revealing some crucial details as to what the future holds for the game. Most prominent being that EA plans to focus on keeping the game interesting with monthly game updates.
“It’s never been a more exciting time to be playing Battlefield™ 1. We’re thrilled with your overwhelmingly positive feedback on Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass. A lot of hard work has gone into it, so we’re glad that you love it just as much as we do. And we’re just getting started!”
The first major subject addressed in the blog was the fact that the developers plan to release monthly updates for the game. In previous installments of the series there were always seasonal updates, but with all that the developers have panned for Battlefield 1, they felt it necessary to make the switch to having monthly updates. “With this new tempo, we’re going to bring you more of what you want, faster than ever”. They also plan to use the community test environment to test out new ideas and create the game everyone wants it to be.
Following that, they then talked about the upcoming spring update which will add Platoons. What this means is that players will be able to, “organize and join forces with your friends, execute swift victories, and achieve goals as one unit”. Sadly this was all the information given right now, but the post suggested we stay tuned for more information on the subject as its release date gets closer.
In closing they discussed briefly about the upcoming expansions set to be released. Each one will be “packed with new maps, weapons, vehicles, and game modes”.
EA seems to be serious about keeping things fresh for the game. Only time will tell if they stay true to their word, but for right now, I see great things on the horizon for Battlefield 1.
