Blizzard’s Overwatch Tops 15 Million Players

According to Polygon, since its launch in May, more than 15 million players are playing Overwatch. Ahead of its quarterly earnings report, Activision and Blizzard announced this huge accomplishment today. Since the title’s launch, the amount of players has more than doubled its 7 million players to a staggering 15.

Other statistical accomplishments have been made in the hours played category. Overwatch players have played an insane 500 million hours since its launch in May. Taken in comparison from the 119 million back in early June. This shows that play is exponentially growing.

Overwatch is also dominating the Asian markets. It has risen to the top of the widely used Korean internet cafe charts, as we as, setting a new record as the fastest selling PC game of all time in China. For a title such as this, it is a huge accomplishment knowing that their game is thriving not only in America, but around the world.

These accomplishments help cement Activision and Blizzard’s continuous growth. They have already seen a 255% increase in revenue this year alone. The developer will continue to release loads of new content for Overwatch. Something players have to look forward to is the Summer Games Event, an update that will encompass new playlists, as well as, tiny fix-ins to the game. There will also be a free DLC in the form of a new hero, Ana. Overwatch will continue to pump out new content for its loyal players, especially since more and more people are joining the train.
