Developers over at Blizzard had a busy couple of days! Fresh off the hype behind their first animated Overwatch short “Recall” featuring high-tech gorilla Winston, they also took part in a slew of cheeky shenanigans on April Fool’s, including a faux Hearthstone trailer, as well as a couple of chuckles over on Starcraft II.
Out today, Blizzard created a second animated short, this time centered around sinister Talon assassin, Widowmaker. Titled “Alive” the short features another popular character, scout-like Tracer, who serves as a shell for the femme fatale sniper. It also takes place in King’s Row, London, just one of the game’s many locations.
Known for their well crafted fan service, Blizzard seems to be setting up both their web of intricate character plots, as well as their environments. Fans can look forward to additional well animated shorts such as these, along with a series of comics, and a full length graphic novel titled: Overwatch: First Strike.
Watch out for Overwatch’s open multiplayer beta starting May 5th. However, do try to get that early access offered on May 3rd!
