Blizzard Entertainment has revealed its next Hearthstone expansion, Rise of Shadows. In this new addition, there will be a party of new villains rising to power in its digital collection of card games. A first for the game, Rise of Shadows begins a yearlong storyline in Hearthstone. The League of Evil will cast some returning villains from Hearthstone‘s past such as Dr. Boom and Hagatha the Witch.
Rise of Shadows will also bring forth 135 new cards along with Lackey cards. They can be played on the battlefield once they’ve been created by another Rise of Shadows card. They may be weak with 11 stats, but they have powerful and useful battlecries to disrupt the field. One mechanic players will get is Twinspell, where upon casting this spell, you will get a copy of that spell in your hand, allowing gamers to cast the same spell twice. This is a great feature is that players can also hold onto this spell for a later turn.
Another mechanic is called Schemes. This card will start off weak, but the longer the player holds them in their hand, the stronger they will grow. In order to create a more put-together and potentially deadly set of cards, Rise of Shadows will use keywords and mechanics from past expansions. This game is set to launch a single-player campaign in May that will offer more content. The first chapters will be free along with the previous four chapters costing 700 each or 19.99 for all four.
The five chapters will give 15 Rise of Shadows packs, a golden classic pack and Shadow Cloak, which unlocks one of the five new decks at random. Pre-purchase tiers will unlock Rise of Shadows card packs, an exclusive card pack, a golden legendary and a new hero portrait of Madame Luzul Priest with sound effects and voice lines. Hearthstone‘s rise of Shadows is set to be released on April 9 and will be Hearthstone‘s first expansion of the Year of the Dragon.
