Blizzard Confirms New Mercy Skin, Unlocks in Overwatch’s Brand New Challenge Event

Looks like it didn’t take long for Blizzard to confirm that new Mercy skin for Overwatch. Unveiled in a news post, the company has announced that the skin will be available as one of many pieces of Mercy related content in their new challenge event dubbed, Mercy’s Recall Challenge. Her new cosmetic was teased yesterday in her short story feature, and now we’ll be able to play as our favorite battle medic with with this awesome new skin very soon.

Compared to other events and challenges, this one is relatively simple. All you need to do is win matches in Quick Play, Arcade, and even Competitive to obtain the prizes. Win three matches to earn a player icon, six for a new spray, and finally nine to unlock the Dr. Ziegler skin from the story. That’s all there is to it, no tricks or stings pulled on this one. Normally new cosmetics are only obtained through the in-game Loot Boxes or by using in game currency, so this is a nice change to get a certain skin for a beloved character.

There is actually more content you can unlock by watching specific Twitch streams as well. Watching more than two hours will unlock a spray, four to get two more sprays, and six to get three more sprays. This isn’t the first time that companies have used Twitch in a cross-promotion such as this, and it’s a pretty cool way to obtain more in game loot. It’s important to note that in order to participate in the Twitch stream drops you’ll need to link your Battle.net account with Twitch.

Blizzard has also mentioned in the same news post that if you play the matches in Arcade Mode they won’t replace the weekly rewards with the challenge ones. So you can earn multiple rewards by playing this event in Arcade, unless your just keen on earning Mercy related cosmetics only. Mercy’s Recall Challenge starts right now and goes until December 2, which gives us just a little more than two weeks to complete the challenge.
