Blizzard has announced a brand new mini-set for their card-battling game Hearthstone. Dubbed the Wailing Caverns this set acts as an additional piece for the most recent expansion, Forged in the Barrens. Since this is essentially part of the same expansion, all of the new Wailing Caverns cards will be available through the same set, but if you’d rather try to obtain just the new set, you can buy the whole thing with 2,000 in-game gold or real-life money for $14.99.

This Wailing Caverns set comes packed with 35 brand new cards consisting of four Legendary cards, an Epic card, 14 Rare cards, and 16 Common cards. The name Wailing Caverns comes from Blizzard’s popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft, where it takes place as a dungeon for newer players who are currently in the middle of their leveling cycle. As with other expansions in the title, Hearthstone’s setting largely consists of places from World of Warcraft.
Here are some of the most noteworthy cards to come out of this set. Selfless Sidekick lets you equip a random weapon from your deck, while the Devouring Ectoplasm summons a 2/2 adventurer with a random bonus effect. Deviate Dreadfang lets you summon a 4/2 viper with rush after you cast a nature spell while Shroud of Concealment draws 2 minions, and any played during the turn gain stealth for 1 turn.
The one Epic card is Against All Odds, which has an absolutely powerful ability. When played, it destroys all odd-attack minions, which could leave your opponent wide open. As for the Legendary cards, Kresh, Lord of Turtling is a warrior card that gains 8 armor while Lady Anacondra lets you cast nature spells for 2 points less than usual. It’s still a bit early just how these new cards will effect the overall meta, but as with other expansions, it’ll more than likely have some sort of impact on the online gameplay aspect.
In addition to this new set, Blizzard will also be releasing new Book Chapters later this month. The Books are the single player aspect of the title allowing the player to enjoy the game in a story-life setting. Book of Mercenaries: Xyrella is available right now, which involves the player assisting the aforementioned priest in search of glowing shard in order to save her daughters life.
The second Book, Book of Mercenaries: Guff, has the player helping out Guff Runetotem after he accidently starts a rampage that destroys Thunder Bluff. The third and final book, Book of Heroes: Malfurion, has the player giving aid to the Druid Leader who is trying to protest his forests from the enemies of Azeroth. Both Books will be available on June 15 and June 22 respectively.
The Wailing Caverns mini-set is available now as part of the new Hearthstone patch. You can check out a gallery of the new 35 cards right here.
