Blizzard Announces the Overwatch Payload Tour, Starting at PAX East

Blizzard has announced a new series of events dedicated towards Overwatch fans, and especially cosplayers. The Overwatch Payload Tour is kicking off at PAX East this year, and Blizzard has shared a few details on what the tour consists of and where you can attend. “Over the last few years, the Overwatch cosplay community has crafted some of the most incredible pieces of wearable art that we’ve ever seen,” Blizzard wrote. The tour will be Blizzard’s way of giving fans “a new way to show off their creations.”

At the Payload Tour events, Blizzard promises a unique photo experience to “capture your inner hero,” along with “never-before-seen Overwatch cosplay.” Blizzard will also have photo opportunities for non-cosplayers, with a collection of Overwatch‘s most iconic and beloved weaponry available for people to pose with. The photo ops will also, of course, come with a 360-degree panoramic stage where you can take a picture on one of Overwatch‘s arena maps.

Blizzard has also stated that every Payload Tour participant will get an Overwatch pin, with each event getting a unique exclusive pin design. The convention stops announced for the tour so far are:

  • PAX East: April 5–8
  • E3: June 12–14
  • Anime Expo: July 5–8
  • San Diego Comic-Con: July 19–22
  • Dragon Con: August 30 – September 3
  • New York Comic Con: October 4–7

Blizzard will also be hosting an Overwatch League Viewing Party in Boston after PAX East on April 5, so PAX attendees are also free to check that out (note that the viewing party is for ages 21 and up only). Beyond that, you can check out Overwatch‘s social media for future details!

Glenn Carreau: Hi! I'm Glenn: recent college grad specializing in interactive arts and media, writer, game creator and connoisseur, pop culture junkie, and semi-professional fan-artist and blogger. In my free time, I function as an unnecessarily specific gaming encyclopedia. I also play the violin, binge crime/detective procedural shows (still not sure why), and do a large amount of digital painting. I'm probably too attached to Dragon Age, but not really inclined to do anything about it. I'm a huge fan of cosplay, foxes, the prose of Jenny Lawson, and Strong Female Characters™.
