Blades of Fire is a third-person fantasy adventure game where players, playing as Aran de Lira, forge their own weapons and face different enemies, explore different places with different environments, and unravel the story of the firstborn of the King’s Ward, and Adso, Aran’s companion who will join him on his journey. Nerea, the new Queen of the land, has cast a spell that turns steel into stone, and “only her army wield the divine metal against which other blades shatter”- all according to the description of the Epic Games page.

There are many key features to the game that include finding 30 forge scrolls that help the player’s forging skills to craft their weapons that best fits their fighting style. The materials used to forge such weapons will affect characteristics such as weight, length, durability, penetration, and edge quality. The combat system aims for players to attack specific parts of the enemy depending on the situation at hand. Only the right weapon will allow players to defeat whatever enemy they are facing.

Adso will also give helpful tips on how to defeat enemies by analyzing them and taking notes, and he also speaks the ancient forger language which is important in the game. There are over 50 enemy types that include the Queen’s guards and different creatures that also include the undead. Each of the enemies have their own unique weapon, armor, and attack style.
