BLACKWOOD, the “cinematic third-person shooter with grounded melee combat, brutal takedowns, responsive gunplay, and a double life to manage” according to its Steam description, sets September 16th 2026 as its Act: One release date. The AttritoM7 Productions developed game released an Official Release Date Reveal and a very in depth Steam News Announcement yesterday, to notify fans of the release date and give clarity on the upcoming game; Before their in person appearance at Gamescom 2026 and their slot at the Future Game Show at Gamescom. BLACKWOOD’S Trailer embodies the game’s description on steam “By day, you run a DVD store in 2012 New York. By night, you’re a ruthless assassin.”
The Trailer starts with New York City’s Subway, as BLACKWOOD, scopes out different train locations for his acts. After the developers title, the character loads up a gun, lights a cigarette and starts working, as he chokes out someone on the subway and runs from bullets in between cars. He loads a smaller gun, spends some time boxing, walks through cars and jumps off a bridge onto a moving car. From there the trailer accelerates, with BLACKWOOD fighting someone at a club, someone in what might be a museum, subway car and car park, with powerful moves. He drags what might be a body out of the car and seems to gain a friendly accomplice. With high powered combat scenes, a quick smoke break with a woman and more combat scenes, the trailer frames the game’s combat as the high point in the trailer. The trailer also teases car speed chases, shooting, motorcycle rides, and more.
On Steam, The game’s Steam News Announcement, the developers explain that BLACKWOOD will have “Three Acts,” and the “current release plans is:
- Act 1: September 16, 2026
- Act 2: March 2027
- Act 3: September 2027.”
To break down these acts further:
- “Act 1: 4 main missions
- Act 2: 4 main missions
- Act 3: 5 main missions”
expect to have “multiple side missions and additional content” alongside, one can use Act 1’s “6+ hours of gameplay.” As ample proof.
The developers stress that “BLACKWOOD is being developed as a full game and released in three acts.” They also note that “When you purchase BLACKWOOD, you are purchasing the full game, not just Act 1. All future acts will be provided as free updates to existing owners. If you buy BLACKWOOD at launch, you will not need to purchase Act 2 or Act 3 separately.” Eliminating the need to worry about upcoming Act releases, however, upon the release of “each act,” the game’s price will “increase” by 5 dollars, with the game jumping to “$29.99” at Act 2’s release, and “$34.99” when Act 3 drops as well.
