With the recent Double XP Weekend wrapped up, but the Days of Summer event still in full swing, it would appear it’s time for another Black Ops 4 update. The update, which went live earlier today, brings a host of new content and changes to the game on all systems, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The main addition for this go-round is the return of Contracts, but the update also brings some map changes, Multiplayer and Blackout updates, and even some weapon tuning.
The first major change to the latest in the Call of Duty franchise is the return of Contacts, featured in the original Black Ops, Black Ops III, and WWII. Contracts in Black Ops 4 have not only come to Multiplayer, but to Zombies, Blackout and even World League. Players will receive a daily Global Contract, as well as six Contracts to choose from in each of the four game modes. Players can earn Reserves, XP, and more from the completion of the Contracts. For more information, you can check out the Contract-specific blog on the Treyarch website.
The update is also bringing a new alternate for the Hacienda map, called Hacienda Twilight. According to the update notes posted by Treyarch on Reddit, “this map’s moon-bathed exterior is brighter than its interior. With blazing fires, structural changes, and other new surprises to be discovered throughout the estate, you might want to get your bearings in a Custom Game before jumping into a public match with this one.” The dev team is also looking for feedback for this one to better steer them in the right direction when creating new map variants.
Another good thing to keep in mind with this update are the changes made to some of the weapons as well as the ballistic profiles for some guns. The update tried to make SMGs and pistols a little more viable against assault rifles, and will now hit targets with more speed and accuracy overall. For specific guns, the damage ranges for the Daemon 3XB and Switchblade X9 have been brought down, an additional extra mag added to the Daemon, and the Operator Mod damage for the MOG 12 (Dragon Breath) reduced as well.
