At Pearl Abyss’ annual Heidel Ball 2025, a massive update was unveiled for Black Desert that will completely reshape the world of Black Desert. These changes include updates to PVP, new classes, a new region, and new features that are soon to come, according to a press release. 

The entire PvP system has recently been overhauled and balanced according to community feedback. These changes include the following: standdaization of fomulats used to calculate accuracy, evasion, damage, super armor damage reduction is now additive, extra damage to certain species has been separated between PvE and PvP, summon mechanics will use the same damage calculation formula as the main character, resistances will be removed in PVP with items containing resistance stats converted into silver, mouse movement will be disabled, and class damage modified will be grouped. In celebration of these changes, Pearl Abyss will be hosting a PvP tournament known as Master Class. Master class will be a global 1 versus 1 tournament that will crown the stronger player of each class. Participants will compete in standardized gear, and winners will receive an exclusive griffon mount, titles, and a chance to be honored at the next live event. The event will be hosted using 30 classes, including the newly announced Wukong class.

Wukong has been designed as a fast-paced melee combatant wielding a weapon inspired by Journey to the West, a Power Pole. The weapon is able to awaken into the Jade Pillar, which pairs with Wukong’s “Fighting Buddha” state, which allows him to summon clones and extend his pole to do AOE combos. Players will be able to play as the Wukong Class starting on June 28th and riding on his Flying Nimbus.

The Flying Nimbus will serve as a new way to navigate the emerging continent of Edania. Edania, which is north of Valencia, will be released in two parts. Part one will contain five major castles, with each castle containing its own lore and difficulty. Monsters in this new continent will be a part of the “Edania” species, allowing new artifacts, crystals, and alchemy recipes to be obtained. Edania’s release is marked by the release of a new Sovereign-grade sub-weapon that combines the boss Kutum and Nouver into one item and a mythical dream horse that combines the abilities of Doom, Arduanatt, and Dine, whose name will be chosen based on community input.

New players are invited to join the fanfare, as new players will receive 10 billion silver spread out across different progression quests. The Olvia Town area is completely revamped into Olvia School, which will be a beginner-friendly area with a semester experience that allows players to practice combat, cooking, and alchemy, whilst new players build their network. New players can alcove experience and the new UI and quality of life improvements. The buff status overview has been changed, inventory space has been improved, text in UI has been made clearer, presets for different builds can be created, event tracking has been made more seamless, adventure log has been consolidated, and PVE has been reworked.

Heidel Ball 2025’s stream will be marked by two seasonal outfits, Summer Getaway and Ocean Spray. People who attended the ball will see 20,000 Cron Stones, seven J’s Hammers of  Loyalty, Rare Hammer Selection Box, Advice of Valks, Weapon Exchange coupons, inverted Garmoth’s heart, and more.
