In case some people forgot about this, BioWare is very much still working on the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise. The studio revealed the title initially almost year ago and recently decided to give us all a friendly reminder that the newest title is still in existence. During the annual N7 Day celebrations, BioWare tweeted out an ominous image which showed a spaceship landed in front of what appears to be a massive crater. At the bottom of the image is the line “Mass Effect will continue.”
If you look further into the image, you can see that four people are standing ahead of the ship, most likely going to investigate the crater. Even further ahead from them is what looks like a body-like figure lying on the ground. The body vaguely resembles a Geth body, which is one of the major races in the Mass Effect universe. As for what’s in the crater itself, it’s a bit harder to discern what could be waiting for them in there. It’s possible that it was a Geth ship that crashed landed and caused the crater, but for the time being, we’re not going to get any sort of official confirmation until BioWare is ready to unveil that for us.
As we already mentioned, BioWare showed off the teaser during their annual N7 Day, which is a celebration of the franchise for both the developer and the fans. N7 comes from the series itself and is the designation for the highest rank in the Systems Alliance Space Navy, and is only offered and trained to chosen few. Due to the name N7, BioWare always celebrates this occasion on November 7. The actual anniversary for the series is not far off, however, coming up later this month on November 20, and is when the very first Mass Effect was released way back in 2007. The video game community has not been the same since.
Hopefully, we’ll hear more on this teaser image that BioWare showed us, and hopefully before the end of this year. After all, The Game Awards are only a little more than a month away that would be a perfect venue to make an official reveal.
