Bioware Introduces The Andromeda Initiative In New Mass Effect Trailer, Teases N7 Day Plans

Since it’s November, fans of the Mass Effect franchise have N7 Day to get excited for. That wonderful day when we will finally get more info on Mass Effect: Andromeda. One of the biggest questions fans have about the game is when will it be set? As many know, the third game ended with the entire Milky Way galaxy in a tight situation after the Reapers. So will it take place before the event? After? Or somewhere in between?

Bioware released a trailer yesterday that may hint at the time period.

In the trailer, the narrator, who sounds a lot like Clancy Brown, talks about humanity’s path to space travel and how it began long ago. On screen, we see the player character walking around the site of the Moon landing before revealing what looks like a rebuilt Citadel. He goes on to say that eventually humanity will need to move beyond the Milky Way. At the end of the trailer, the viewer is called to join the Andromeda Initiative.

For those who don’t know their Mass Effect lore the Citadel wasn’t made by humans or any of the living races in the Mass Effect universe, but it was damaged by them. So seeing it under construction and looking different rules out it being a prequel.

If you choose to join the Andromeda Initiative you can start orientation on November 7th (N7 Day). No details were given about the orientation, but from what it sounds like on the Mass Effect website joining the initiative signs you up for a newsletter. That newsletter, along with orientation will net you an unspecified reward.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is slated for a March 2017 release and recently an artbook may have leaked the game’s March 21st release date. The game will launch on Xbox One, all versions of the PS4 and PC.
