BioWare Discusses the Upcoming Mass Effect TV Show and Confirms the Continued Development of a New Mass Effect Game

BioWare recently released a blog post for N7 Day, which is an annual celebration for the Mass Effect franchise. The post was written by Mike Gamble, the Executive Producer behind the Mass Effect series, and included appreciation for fan support, hints towards the plot of the upcoming Mass Effect TV series, and limited information about the next Mass Effect game.

Gamble starts off the post with thanks for the Mass Effect fanbase, saying how BioWare is “thankful…for the community and support we get. We’ve been through a lot together, and we appreciate you.” Gamble also mentions that both Electronic Arts (EA) and BioWare are determined to continue exploring stories within the beloved universe of Mass Effect.

Gamble also devotes a section of the post to discussing the upcoming Mass Effect TV series. He hints at the show’s plot, confirming that it will feature a brand new story taking place after the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy. Gamble says the show “won’t be a retread of Commander Shepard’s story – because after all … that’s YOUR story, isn’t it?” In other words, the show will center around a new story to prevent one of the game’s several endings from becoming the only official or “canon” ending.

The post also confirms that the next Mass Effect game is in development.” The game in question remains unnamed, and was first teased nearly five years ago on December 10th, 2020. In addition to confirming the game’s ongoing development, Gable mentions the company is currently “heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect.”

The blog post does not include any specific information regarding this upcoming game, with Gamble only mentioning that BioWare has “a lot of universe to cover, lots of features to build, and lots of romances to figure out.” Some fans were frustrated by the lack of information, with many hoping that the game would get more attention during the N7 celebration. Gamble responded to these frustrations on his X account. He says that he wants to give fans more information but that “it’s not the time…yet.”

It is currently unclear when more information will be released regarding the next Mass Effect game. However, it can be safely said that fans can expect many more Mass Effect games in the future.
