Bioware may be busy with its upcoming online RPG, Anthem, but that doesn’t mean the company is going to forget about one of the franchises that made them amazing in the first place. Sure, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire are RPG stalwarts, but the Mass Effect series is one of the most revered and beloved Science Fiction games of all time. Each year, on November 7, the company celebrates the franchise with video tributes, among other things, and today is no different. The fans and developers come together once a year, on N7 Day, to share their reasons why Mass Effect is such an important part of their lives.
In their blog post, Bioware lays out a couple of things they have done to commemorate their special day. One of them is a video, with fans, animators, and developers detailing their love and passion for Mass Effect. The production value is top notch, and it also includes high level Bioware employees, such as Executive Producer Michael Gamble, and Mass Effect Creator and Director Casey Hudson at the Bioware Base. In addition, the video showcases cut-scenes from the series, including Andromeda, with the narrator asking the fans what N7 day means to them.
Speaking of Mass Effect Andromeda, starting today, the game will be getting the Enhanced for Xbox One X update, which is when a video game is boosted for better graphics and full 4k support on the Xbox One X. While it wasn’t the most well received game in the franchise, it might be worth playing again if you own it for the updated system. Bioware also announced the return of their online merchandise store, which has been dormant since early Spring this year. Partnering up with video game apparel aficionados, JINX, you can now check out and purchase some brand new N7 gear.
Lastly, the company posted a couple of art pieces done by professional artists, Salmon and Kate Niemczyk, which are beautiful renditions of Commander Shepard and Ryder. Whether it’s going through all four games in the series, or playing through certain spots for nostalgia, the fans of Mass Effect have this day to look back and reminisce on the good times they had, and possibly the good times to come.
