As we wait for anything regarding the dormant Beyond Good & Evil 2, the 20th anniversary of the first game is upon us. At the Limited Run Games showcase, Ubisoft released the trailer for Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition. The game is set to launch next week on June 25 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Beyond Good & Evil follows Jade, a penniless young photographer/lighthouse keeper/orphan caregiver/martial artist who, along with her adoptive uncle Pey’j, set out to explore Hilliys, a water planet under constant threat from the DomZ aliens documenting the local wildlife to earn enough to keep the lights on. Eventually, they quickly find themselves recruited by a clandestine news network working to expose the truth behind the DomZ attacks.

The game incorporates a blend of gameplay from a variety of genres, letting players knock aliens around with Jade’s daï-jo staff in fluid combat encounters, sneak past lethal guards in tense stealth sequences, and pilot a hovercraft to battle massive creatures and win explosive races. Beyond Good & Evil also features competitive minigames to master, secrets to uncover, and a story of resistance that will take players from the streets of Hilliys to the vastness of space.

The 20th Anniversary Edition of Beyond Good & Evil includes updated visuals running at up to 4K resolution and 60 fps, updated controls and quality-of-life features such as autosaving, cross-saves across all available platforms, remapped controls (with full support for controllers, keyboards, and mice), and the ability to skip cutscenes. This new version also comes with a new in-game treasure hunt with clues that will direct them across Hilliys and yield in-game cosmetic rewards that tie into Jade’s past and to the pirates of Beyond Good & Evil 2; There is also a special gallery anniversary that features previously unreleased art, videos, anecdotes from developers, and other never-before-seen content, and a Speedrun mode.

A physical and collector’s edition of Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition will be available through Limited Run Games. Preorders open on July 12.
