Last week, Bethesda Game Studios revealed that it is working on new features for Starfield including quality-of-life updates such as town maps, mod support, and new ways of traveling. Now, the developer has provided more details about its plans for Starfield in 2024 in a end of the year update. They also wanted to celebrate the launch of Starfield and shared some fun stats for the game. “It’s coming up on the end of the year, and we want to thank all our players for joining us for the incredible launch of Starfield,” Bethesda said. “With 13 million players since September, this has been the biggest launch in our history. Your support of this new adventure has meant everything to us.”
“You’ve been very busy out there in space for the past few months, and we want to share some fascinating stats about what you’ve been up to. Altogether, you’ve visited nearly 2 billion planets, which is an astronomical number! Check out the full infographic below for even more info on everything from your favorite powers to the most lethal enemies, and more.”
Next year, starting in February, Bethesda is targeting updates roughly every six weeks and will include everything from quality-of-life improvements to content and feature updates: new ways to travel, the ability to access city maps while exploring cities, ship decorations, new ship building options, and more. New gameplay options are also coming to the game. These new settings will allow players to alter their experience to make it more easier or more challenging beyond the normal “difficulty” options. Players will be able to adjust things like carry capacity, cargo access distance, ship damage, vendor credits, how afflictions occur, new survival mechanics, and more.
Mod support is coming to Starfield next year. “Modding has always been an enormous part of our games, with incredible community-made content constantly bringing fresh new experiences. With the scale and systems in Starfield, we can’t wait to see what you come up with!” Beginning early next year, Starfield will be getting its own exporter and people will have access to a new Creation Kit.
Bethesda Game Studios is also working on Starfield’s first major expansion coming next year, Shattered Space which will bring in new story content, new locations, new gear, and much more.
