Bethesda and Microsoft to Hold E3 2017 Briefings on Same Day

Look for a seriously big amount of news and announcements to be dropping on Sunday, June 11.

American video game publisher Bethesda Softworks confirmed today that their official E3 briefing will take place on June 11, the Sunday directly before E3.  This will be the third year in a row that Bethesda gives an official press briefing at E3; every year so far, Bethesda has held their briefing the Sunday before E3.

Just yesterday, Microsoft announced that their Xbox E3 briefing will be taking place on that same Sunday, making a departure from previous years when the Xbox presentation was always on Monday.  Bethesda’s announcement today poked fun at Microsoft for seemingly making a copycat move to Sunday.

There may be yet more events crowding the pre-E3 weekend, though.  Electronic Arts has confirmed that they will again be forgoing an official booth on the E3 show floor to instead host their own off-site event, EA Play.  The fan-oriented event will take place June 10-12 at the Hollywood Palladium, and promises hands-on gameplay, live entertainment, and more.  And, if last year’s schedule can be trusted to forecast this year’s event, EA will also be holding their press briefing on Sunday with Bethesda and Microsoft.

In previous years, Sony and Ubisoft have held their E3 briefings on the Monday before E3, while Nintendo has had theirs on Tuesday.  None of these companies have yet confirmed the time of their briefings for this year.

E3 2017 will run from June 13-15.  For the first time this year, the event is open to the public.
