Beholder 2 Coming in December

Ever get the feeling that you’re being watched? Paranoid that some overarching government agency is listening in on your phone calls or hacking into your webcam? While that’s probably not happening in real life, it’s exactly what is expected in the upcoming game, Beholder 2. Developed by Warm Lamp Games and published by Alawar Entertainment, the game puts the player in the shoes of the average joe working at a place called the Ministry. The Ministry is responsible for spying on the citizens of a totalitarian State, which means you are responsible for spying on the citizens of a totalitarian State for them like a good little worker bee.

The game is a sequel to the 2016 side-scroller Beholder. Following a similar principle within the same totalitarian nightmare, you play as the landlord of a large rental house with a number of tenants. Your job is to break into apartments, set up cameras, discover contraband, and report them to the authorities so a couple of large police officers can beat them up with batons for their “crimes” against the State. The game takes your actions into account and gives a different ending based on the sum of your choices.

In the new 3D sequel Beholder 2, initially announced at the end of 2017, you’re not just a lowly landlord, but in the thick of things right at the Ministry. Play as an intern at the Ministry and set your sights on eventually becoming the Prime Minister. The choices you make will once again affect how the story turns out; rat out your fellow Ministry workers for their misconduct or play the system, letting nothing or no one get in your way to the top. Currently, Beholder 2 is in closed beta, but if you sign up for the newsletter on their website, you will be provided with a link, straight from the Ministry itself, to participate in the beta (if you dare).

Beholder 2 is available December 4 on PC through Steam. Check out the gameplay trailer below.
