Bayonetta and Corrin DLC released for Smash Bros.

It looks like we got the final Smash Bros. characters a lot quicker than we thought.  While we knew Corrin  was coming in early February, but Nintendo has also made Bayonetta available on the same day.  Bayonetta comes with her Umbra Clock Tower Stage and can be bought on the eShop for $5.99 on either Nintendo 3DS or Wii U, or both versions for $6.99.  Corrin is available for 3DS or Wii U for $4.99 or on both systems for $5.99.

I have downloaded Bayonetta for the 3DS version and have had some time to try her out.  When I first started it was a little bit like Ryu and Little Mac where they have a unique fighting style different from other character in Smash Bros., but once I got a couple matches in I saw how fun Bayonetta is to play.

Like it was said in the Smash Bros. Direct, Bayonetta is a combo heavy character with the ability to fire her guns at the end of any attack by holding the attack button.  This allows Bayonetta to delay her attacks, giving her a lot of combo opportunities and making her an unpredictable fighter to go against.  The bullets don’t stun the enemies, similar to Fox’s blaster, but they are good for extra damage and throwing the enemy off.  Bayonetta has some great ariel attacks that can be used for recovery, my advise is just keep track of what moves you use so you don’t lose your recovery (happened to me a couple times).

The Umbra Clock Tower stage is a nice bonus for purchasing the character.  The stage has a lot of moving platforms but no big stage hazards like Midgar.  The stage looked great on my 3DS, so I can only imagine the Wii U version is even better.

The Smash Bros. DLC is coming to an end, and it’s crazy that Bayonetta, Cloud, Ryu, Sonic, Pac-Man, and Mega Man are all in the same Nintendo game.  While the DLC may be done, this may not be the last we hear of Smash Bros.
