Star Wars Battlefront will be coming out with a new and final downloadable content pack for its revived franchise next month. Rogue One: Scarif, the final DLC, will arrive to gamers on December 6th, a full ten days before the upcoming theatrical release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on December 16th. However, it’s important to note that the December 6th date is for season pass holders and not for the entire gaming community. Everyone but season pass holders will need to wait two more weeks to get the DLC.
According to PCgamer, Electronic Arts (EA) the final DLC will come to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. EA has previously released several DLC expansion packs for Battlefront, including Outer Rim, Bespin, and Death Star. Rogue One: Scarif was initially supposed to come out sometime in early 2017, but EA quickly changed that date.
The last DLC will let you tour the beaches of Star Wars: Rogue One’s planet Scarif before you get to see the movie. Some of the added characters will be Rebel sergeant Jyn Erso and death trooper commander Orson Krennic. Four maps inspired by the film will be added to the game, including that Normandy-esque beach that’s featured in the opening scenes of the Ultimate Edition trailer, which is featured below.
The game will also feature a new multi-stage game mode with space and ground combat. It might sound a bit like the previous Battle Station mode that was introduced in the last DLC, Death Star, but we’re hoping there will be added features to the gameplay. EA will provide a free Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission DLC for the PS4, which will allow owners of the VR headset to pilot an X-Wing.
News of the last DLC came out earlier today since today marks the one year anniversary that Battlefront came out (believe it or not). To celebrate this, EA has made all the maps and game modes on their previous three DLC’s free until Sunday, November 20th. Oh yeah, for all those who play the game this weekend, experience points will be quadrupled.
