EA and DICE have released a new cinematic trailer that officially shows off the battle royale mode for Battlefield V, Firestorm. The trailer showcases what makes a Battlefield battle royale different from the others, with airstrikes, vehicles, and destructive environments. It also gives players a look at “Battlefield‘s biggest map ever”, Halvoy. The map will have expansive terrain that will range from snow-covered mountains to open waterfronts. Firestorm will release as a free update March 25.
Firestorm will have 64-players that can either play solo or with a squad of four. In true Battlefield fashion, you will work as a team to unlock high-risk, high reward loot. These will be obtained taking on several objectives which are one of the ways that Firestorm is different from other battle royales.
Earlier in the month, a leaked gameplay trailer was released. Essentially, it was the tutorial video for Firestorm. It detailed what makes this battle royale different like the objectives which can reward players with loot, epic reinforcements or a special vehicle.
Another thing that the leaked trailer went into were the weapons of the mode. There are three rarity tiers: common, rare, and epic. The different pieces you might look for in other battle royales such as a scope or an extended mag will be associated with a particular tier. The better the tier, the more equipped the weapon will be. The new cinematic trailer also showcased the signature destruction that comes with the Battlefield franchise. You can call in artillery strikes by completing objectives, providing an incentive to compete for.
There will be 17 types of vehicles in Firestorm, which include tanks, towable cannons, a prototype helicopter, and a tractor that can be used on the cannons.
EA says that they will continue to grow Firestorm after its launch with new features and improvements that will come to all Battlefield V players, such as an initial introduction of a duos mode in April.
