Battlefield V Reverts TTK and Details Upcoming Content

Battlefield V has had an up and down release during its first month after launch. Players have found certain new features innovative and others not so much. One of these new elements was the Time To Kill, which was drastically shortened compared to previous Battlefield games. After listening to community feedback, DICE has made the decision to revert the Time To Kill to its original state during launch in order to move towards a more realistic World War II title. This morning, the developers have finished utilizing “real-world data” on how the Time To Kill affects online matches. DICE stated that “we’ve identified imbalances in weapons” and that their “intent with the [Time To Kill] changes was to see if we could evolve the Battlefield V experience and make it more enjoyable for new players.” There has been a divide in the community over the specifics of Time To Kill between new and veteran players, so it seems that DICE is attempting to balance those interests with the intent of continuing regular updates in the future. For those unfamiliar with the concept, Time To Kill is the average time it takes to kill an opponent in a video game shooter. Games with a higher Time To Kill are considered more difficult and for more elite players, because it gives the target and shooter more time to either return fire or take cover to strategize.

Several other pieces of content are releasing this week in Battlefield V. First, the Chapter 1: Overture 2nd Weekly Mission: Squadplay and Reinforcements is available until December 20 and players can be awarded the Axis Ratburner helmet. Second, DICE is revealing several blogs on their website relating to Visual Customization and a special Holiday gift for players. Third, on December 20 the next Chapter 1: Overture Mission will go live. In order to get access to the Selbstlader 1906 self-loading rifle players will have to complete six “legs,” or steps, that involve dealing damage to specific enemy types and achieving certain objectives. While some of Battlefield V’s player base is concerned about how DICE is rolling out content, any game’s community should find comfort in a developer listening to its players and being willing to make appropriate changes.
